Canada’s Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant snapped Amos Mosaner and Stefania Constantini’s 23-game mixed doubles win streak to join Great Britain and the United States in remaining unbeaten on day two of the round-robin action in Cortina.
Canada’s Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant advanced to a 3–0 record in the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 mixed doubles curling event after securing a decisive 7–2 victory over defending Olympic champions Italy on Thursday (5 February).
Back on the ice in the evening, after a 6-3 win over Norway in the afternoon, the husband-and-wife team seized early momentum with a remarkable five-point first end, putting them firmly in the driver’s seat for the hotly anticipated match-up.
While Amos Mosaner and Stefania Constantini struggled with crucial misses in key moments, the Canadians pounced on every opportunity to keep the Olympic and world champions at bay.
Peterman followed her sublime raise takeout in the first end, with a similarly aggressive final shot in the third to hold Italy to one and ensure Canada a 6-1 lead after three ends.
Despite the urgings of the crowd, the Italians didn’t manage a multiple score throughout the game, and when Constantini missed a rudimentary take-out in the sixth for a single score, the pair reached for handshakes.
In victory, Peterman and Gallant brought an end to Mosaner and Constantini’s 23 international win streak, a run that first started during their gold-medal winning run at Beijing 2022.
Speaking to Olympics.com, the pair were delighted but measured with their performance so far.
“It feels great. We had a tough day today, so it was really nice to come out with two wins,” Peterman said.
“Playing them [Italy], you only have one option, that’s to play really well. They’re such a strong team. They’ve had a great record for a reason. So, I think we were just focused on what we had to do,” Gallant continued.
“I was happy that we were able to come out of the gates and do that.”
